When Jackson is mentioned in the opening, I was picturing a teenage helpless wolf. I had no idea this was a combat vet wolf shifter, a huge alpha. But it doesn't stop there. This is an alpha of the Goddess bloodline. They are the tip top of wolf shifters. This situation intrigued me. Who is 'He' that'll come? Why was he taken? Who took him?If you read the first book in this series you've learned that the paranormal Council is corrupt. They'll do anything to hold their power. Vampire Prince Roman and his Consort Lysander stand against them. With this group is vampire Edgar, a trusted loyal follower, one that loves his pristine look, immaculate for every occasion. It is in his hands Roman leaves his empire while he's spending more time with his family. You have to watch those personal assistants.Edgar and Jackson are fated but have their ups and downs. Their relationship forms as they help area packs and search for Jackson's older brother Clint. There are rescues, killings, and lots of hard truths.As for nit picks I'd like to know how a vampire like Max can ignore the mate bond with Bryan. With two vampires already mated, we know how difficult it is, that the vampire could die, will die, without his mate's blood. So why have the rules changed? How can they put off their mating? And how could those surrounding the Prince not realize Jamie was missing? Don't they all live in the same mansion and are in each other's pockets? It boggles the mind. No one realized he was gone. Overall a good continuing story. I'd like to see Max and Bryan get their mating but it looks like that's side railed. Carlos. Who is Carlos? And Peter? All of a sudden new important faces show up and I'm clueless. - Dan's Wife I am in love with this new series. I read the first book, Forbidden Bonds, then immediately bought and read this second book. I enjoyed the action and I fell in love with the characters. And while it is a M/M romance/story, the limited number of sex scenes are not explicit, which I found to be refreshing for a change. I'm anxious for the third book in the series to be released.P.S. There is a bit of a cliffhanger at the end of this, but it's the setup for the next book.
