Ebook About “Reid’s hockey-themed Game Changers series continues on its red-hot winning streak.” —Publishers Weekly, starred review for Common GoalNew York Admirals captain Scott Hunter takes his pregame rituals very seriously. In this case, it’s not just a lucky smoothie he’s craving—it’s the man who made it.Pro hockey star Scott Hunter knows a good thing when he sees it. So, when a smoothie made by juice bar barista Kip Grady precedes Scott breaking his on-ice slump, he’s desperate to recreate the magic...and to get to know the sexy, funny guy behind the counter.Kip knew there was more to Scott’s frequent visits than blended fruit, but he never let himself imagine being invited back to Scott’s penthouse. Or kissed with reckless abandon, never mind touched everywhere all at once. When it happens it’s red-hot, incredible and frequent, but also only on Scott’s terms and always behind his closed apartment doors.Scott needs Kip in his life, but with playoff season approaching, the spotlight on him is suddenly brighter than ever. He can’t afford to do anything that might derail his career…like introducing the world to his boyfriend. Kip is ready to go all-in with Scott—but how much longer will he have to remain a secret?Game ChangersBook 1: Game ChangerBook 2: Heated RivalryBook 3: Tough GuyBook 4: Common GoalBook 5: Role ModelBook Game Changer: A Gay Sports Romance (Game Changers Book 1) Review :
If you drank a can of sweetened condensed milk that might get you in the neighborhood of how sweet this book is.It's a sugar plum fairy dressed up as a unicorn handing out rainbows of Skittles. When Kip and Scott (shipped=Skip) aren't mooning over each other they're punching their tickets to Pound Town. They're there so often that the front desk clerk is all... go on already. It is a little much but I gotta be honest, it's difficult to hate on two dudes who are this into each other. Skip fall hard and fast for each other and Reid really showed how into each other they are. Sure, it's saccharine what with 58 ILY or derivatives thereof, but I believed their desperate need for each other and not just on a physical level.Maybe it was a little overboard but two people who are that much in love can be rather sickening and I'm ok with that. The second half took on a bit more of a serious note with them trying to work out the logistics of Scott being closeted NHL superstar while trying to keep Kip and, more importantly, keep Kip happy. The hockeying was good. I know dick about hockey but Reid added enough team dynamics stuff to keep me happy and there is some on ice time that was charged. Carter was my favorite of his teammates but I was highly amused by Rozanov and his antics. I'm looking forward to getting to know him more in Heated Rivalry. The ending is a fluff storm of an HEA that was heartwarming to read. It's absolutely not for everyone and clocks in for me at 3.5 stars, but if you're in the mood for some sticky sweet feel good sports romance and you like em extra fluffy... If I had read this book before Heated Rivalry, then I know I wouldn't have bought anything by this author again. As it was, I read Heated Rivalry (which is actually the second installment in the series); loved it, and hurried to buy GAME CHANGER. What a disappointment!I could barely tell the two main characters, Scott and Kip, apart. That was the first major problem! Second, they were both too bland. And third, their story was incredibly *boring.* I don't know WHAT happened to the author's muse during the creation of this book, but there's *zero* tension - sexual or otherwise - in this plod-along plot. You would think the story of a famous hockey player falling in love & finally coming out of the closet would really sizzle, but this plot was like dried bacon in the author's hands. I found it a complete 180 from Heated Rivalry.I stopped reading Game Changer about half way through; forced myself to pick it up again after a few weeks, and ... it didn't get any better. I had to force myself to finish it. It just lacked everything that makes a romance right. Even the penultimate scene was a drag.I highly recommend Heated Rivalry, but recommend you pass on Game Changer unless you suffer from insomnia.
